Basic Function:

The Research Associate contributes to research by supporting faculty in research initiatives and programs in line with the research strategy of company. The incumbent has a direct role in supporting company to emerge as a leading engineering and science research university focused on the oil, gas, and energy sectors. Worked Performed:

Support faculty members at company in initiating and conducting innovative research programs that develop academic recognition to make company a leading research university. 
Assist in developing research proposals; seek internal and external funding through company, regional and international research grants and/or contracts to support in developing research programs. 
Assist faculty in coordinating research and collaborative partnerships with company  or other appropriate entities, public sector bodies, commercial organizations or other research bodies as appropriate in order to advance and promote knowledge, education and training in the area of oil, gas, and energy sectors. 
Assist faculty in independent research activity in the specialized area(s) of expertise in coordination with company or partner universities. 
Conduct high-quality research with the objective of producing conference papers and refereed publications that raise the profile of company and add to what is known about the specialist field. 
Perform various editorial responsibilities including writing, reviewing and editing materials for publication. 
Compile and analyze data, record and maintain records. 
Coordinate day to day activities with the research team on collaborative research programs. 
Prepare publication schedule and identify opportunities or threats that may influence research plan and priorities and adjust research activities in response. 
Contribute to the creation of an intellectual atmosphere at the University by organizing seminars, workshops, etc. 
Represent company regionally and internationally at appropriate professional conferences as required. 
Develop internal networks within company and partner universities, by participating in committees for example, in order to promote a collaborative university community. 
Assist in the procurement process of supplies in the specific area including identifying requirements and equipment specifications. 
Contribute and adhere to the accreditation process within the department as appropriate. 
Perform other tasks and duties that may be from time to time required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the University.

Minimum Requirements:

PHD degree from an accredited university in a relevant discipline and/or international eminent experience as a practitioner. 
Minimum two years of post-doctorate research experience in a relevant field. 
Experience in Lab Management and Procurement.

Record of contributions to conferences and professional publications. 
In-depth understanding of own specialized area(s) of expertise to support the development of knowledge, knowledge transfer, innovation and understanding within the field.

Excellent communication skills, ability to demonstrate knowledge in a logical manner, skilled at presenting thoughts, ideas, and specifications orally and in writing.

Basic Function:

The Pre-Award Analyst, under the direction of the Pre-Award Manager, will assist in developing and implementing the pre-award function to ensure all applications follow sponsor guidelines, Company guidelines and timelines, and adhere to all application regulations and requirements.
The post holder will assists Company faculty, staff, departmental administrators and other research personnel in the preparation of technical proposals and the interpretation of industry/sponsor guidelines, forms, regulations and policies related to proposal and budgetary requirements during the pre-award phase of development.
This role will work directly with the Pre-Award Manager to ensure proper procedures and policies are in place to maintain compliance and efficiency of pre-award operations.  This is particularly relevant as the Office of Sponsored Research has only recently been established.

Worked Performed:

Prepares sponsor forms, including budgetary, application forms and representations/ certifications for inclusion with the proposal submission, as well as internal administrative forms.
Reviews proposals for accuracy, completion, and compliance with sponsor and Company policies, procedures and other requirements.
Reviews research proposals, related documents and special considerations and ensures appropriate approves by Company officials.
Reviews accuracy of project cost share requirements, including the source, amount and authorized signatures of committed cost share wherever necessary.
Coordinates with research collaborators (e.g., subcontractors, consultants, evaluators, vendors, etc.) to ensure their commitment and eligibility, and that all proposed financial documents (e.g., subcontract budget, vendor quotes, etc.) are current, accurate and complete.
Work within specific guidelines and policies of the Company and under the supervision on the Pre-Award Manager.
Frequent contact with the Company faculty and other Company administrative units. 
Delegated contact with external research organizations, research universities, professional societies, laboratories, and associated faculty and researchers.
Responsible for providing timely, high quality and coordinated research administrative services to Company faculty and research staff. 
Attends relevant internal and external professional development trainings, seminars and conferences, pre-award staff meetings, etc. (e.g., proposal development kick-off meetings).
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Assist Company faculty, staff, and students in the preparation and submission of research proposals and contracts. 
Assists faculty with budget preparation by using standard Company costing methodologies.
Review grant applications prior to submission ensuring that all university and sponsor guidelines are met.
Prepare sponsor and institutional forms and ensure that all submission deadlines are met.
Assist with grant application submission (paper and electronic). 
Route proposal documents needing review and approval in a timely manner, 
Communicate with faculty researchers on all grants on all issues related to pre-award administration.
Assist the Pre-Award Manager to develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar that includes all sponsored project start dates, end dates, due dates, renewal dates as well as any other important dates related to grant submissions and renewals.
Actively participate in ongoing training and professional development of self.
Work accomplishments are subject to Pre-Award Manager review, and Director - OSR as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

Ability to handle multiple competing deadlines in an increasingly fast-paced environment.

The Post Award Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and subsequently managing the post award function to ensure all projects adhere to sponsor financial and reporting requirements, Company guidelines and timelines as well as to all relevant regulations.
The post holder will provide guidance and oversight in the monitoring of awarded projects and deliverables and will be supported by two Post Award Analysts.
This role will work directly with the Director of the Office of Sponsored Research to ensure proper procedures and policies are in place to maintain compliance and efficiency of post award operations.  This is particularly relevant as the Office of Sponsored Research has only recently been established.

Worked Performed:

Advises and assists faculty, staff, departmental administrators and other research personnel in the interpretation of industry/sponsor guidelines, forms, regulations and policies related to sponsored projects.
Responsible for monthly reconciliations of accounts, sub-award/subaccount creation, contract service agreements, no-cost extensions, material transfer requests, budget modification requests, salary and non-salary expense transfers, effort reporting and verification of salary expenditures on sponsored projects, expense projections, and account closings. 
Ensures that funded projects, related documents and approvals, special considerations are allowable and approved by appropriate Company officials.
Reviews, commits and ensures accuracy of project cost share requirements, including the source, amount and authorized signatures of committed cost share wherever necessary.
Coordinates with research collaborators (e.g., subcontractors, consultants, evaluators, vendors, etc.) to ensure their commitment and eligibility, and that all proposed financial documents (e.g., subcontract budget, vendor quotes, etc.) are current, accurate and complete.
Submits financial reports, completed documents and reports on behalf of the Company, ensuring that proposals are current, accurate and complete and in full compliance with sponsor and Company policies, procedures and other requirements.
Serves as an authorized organizational representative and Company liaison to sponsors, subcontractors, and other entities with which the Company transacts business, as it relates to sponsored research.
Attends relevant internal and external professional development trainings, seminars and conferences, etc. 
Coordinate post-award sponsored research activities with other departments throughout the Company community.
Supervise and train Post-Award Analysts, as assigned, and serve as mentor to colleagues.
May act on behalf of Director - OSR in their absence.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Responsible for providing high quality and coordinated research services to Company faculty and research staff and accurately reviewing financial implications of documents issued by the OSR.
Responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis of project accounts to industry, government, and other non-government entities. 
Establishes departmental deadlines, runs reports, prepares balance sheets, schedules, and financial statements and correct financial and operating problems.
Provides expenditure approval, reporting, recording, and monitoring on funded research projects. 
Reviews agreements, expense reports, contracts, and other financial documents for discrepancies. 
Provides monthly reconciliation of University General Ledgers to the Department's Financial Software system. 
Produces monthly financial reports by grant with projections of expenses compared to budget as well as financial closing of ended grants/contracts. 
Responsible (in coordination with other OSR units)for initiating project kick-off meetings with new Principal Investigator’s to review details related to new grants. 
Remains current and knowledgeable on Sponsor and University procedures and requirements concerning grants management issues. 
Contributes to progress reports for all awarded projects for each department, including progress reports for all industry awards.
Coordinates with the Pre -Award and Contracts & IP units to develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar that includes all sponsored project start dates, end dates, due dates, renewal dates as well as any other important dates related to grant submissions and renewals.
Plans, directs and actively participates in ongoing training and professional development of self and subordinates.
Work accomplishments are subject to Director - OSR review.

Contracts Manager

Basic Function:

The Contracts Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and subsequently managing the contracts & IP function to ensure all projects agreements adhere to sponsor requirements, Company guidelines and timelines as well as to all other relevant regulations within the ADNOC Group.
The post holder will lead on sponsored research contract negotiations on behalf the OSR and will be supported by a dedicated IP Advisor.
This Contracts Manager will work directly with the Director of the Office of Sponsored Research to ensure proper procedures and policies are in place to maintain compliance and efficiency of contractual activities.  This is particularly relevant as the Office of Sponsored Research has only recently been established.

Worked Performed:

Responsible for overseeing the development and /or review of contract or solicitation terms and conditions to ensure contract, grant, and other agreement terms are appropriate for the Company as a research institution of higher education.
Plans and carries out recurring work using established procedures, conferring with the Director - Sponsored Research as necessary on technical problems.
Responsible for negotiating research agreements, research-driven collaboration agreements, commercial contracts, non-disclosure agreements, consultancy agreements and material transfer agreements.
Responsible for ensuring award terms and conditions align with University policies and requirements, and national/international regulations, as applicable
Work within specific guidelines and policies of the Company and exercise considerable authority, responsibility and control in line with delegated authorities. 
Evaluates or monitors contract performance to determine necessity for amendments, extensions and termination of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations.
Presents factual information; composes memoranda, minutes and reports; and drafts contract provisions and supporting documents.
Collaborates with the members in the Office of Sponsored Research in strategic planning to improve the efficiency of research grants management within the Company.
Consults with IP Advisor on intellectual property issues, as needed.
Work accomplishments are subject to Director of the Office of Sponsored Research and  Sr. VP Research & Development’s review
Performs related responsibilities as required.
Reviews and approves requests for modifications to terms and conditions on contract and grant documents as required.
Manages and coordinates acceptance of awards containing non-standard terms.
Develops solicitation or reviews of contract terms and conditions.
Leads compliance tracking in all areas of performance required by the contracts and vendor agreements  
Maintains contact with sponsors to facilitate changes/corrections to contract documents, as appropriate.
Identifies amendments to language or terms and negotiates with the best interest of the Company. 
Interacts regularly with and provides high quality customer service to faculty members conducting sponsored research. 
Works with colleagues/team members to jointly solve contractual questions and challenges in their daily work. 
Communicates with Company's on a regular basis issues regarding contractual terms and conditions. 
Assists Company's with non-financial report submissions, as necessary. 
Assists in transferring awards out of the university, if necessary. 
Communicates with Company's on any and all contractual issues regarding research grants and contracts.
Works with the OSR team to refine processes.
Assists with training for Company's and Staff.
Engages in strategic planning to develop infrastructure to support the growth of research and creative activities within the Company.

Senior Research & Development Coordinator

Worked Performed:

Coordinate and monitors the R&D Gas Sub-Committee and the Gas Research Centre projects plan and ensures that the projects are executed planned.
Prepare annual budgets to include new projects or variations to existing ones.
Coordinates the activities and meetings required to compile and monitor the master business plan.
Compiles and distributes the master business plan in the applicable format.
Monitors and report the performance of the plan throughout the year and advises the R&D management Section accordingly.
Prepares and distributes documentation and arranges the R&D Review meetings and the R&D Projects Technical Committee meetings for both Gas Sub-Committee and Gas Research Centre
Prepares Action Point Review document and distributes it to the appropriate members.
Monitors and assists the R&D Management Section Head in following up the status of the action points between meetings.
Acts as secretary for the R&D Gas Sub-Committee meetings and other R&D Projects Technical Committee meetings.
Receives checks and distributes project related documentation.
Initiates, monitors, coordinates and updates the projects progress, as applicable, and makes appropriate recommendations to the R&D Management Section.
Determines and validates any variations from project plans and initiates timely preventative, remedial or reporting actions to correct such variations. Communicates the results and recommendations for preventive and corrective actions to R&D Management Section.

Minimum Requirements:

7 or above years of experience in Research & Development function preferably within Oil & Gas Industry
Bachelor degree in Engineering, (Process / Mechanical Engineering is preferable).
Project Management Professional Certificate (PMP) is a plus.
Previous experience in Project Planning and Budgeting related to R&D Functions.
Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
Planning and Organising, Scheduling and Coordinating, Checking, Examining and Recording.

Conducts catalyst preparation and formulation activities in the Catalyst laboratories. Conducts catalyst characterization using relevant instruments. 
Reports the tests results in the existing templates. Uses LIMS to record all the results from the tests. 

Minimum Requirements: 

B. Sc. in Chemistry or equivalent. 
Alternatively, 3 years diploma in chemical engineering work. 
Minimum 3 to 4 years’ experience in R&D for catalyst preparation and characterization in an oil, gas or petrochemical industry. 
Minimum 5 to 6 years’ experience in case of diploma qualification for the job. 
Good knowledge of English for communication and preparing reports. 
Knowledge of Arabic is preferable. 
Computer literacy to use LIMS and equipment operation software.
