Mechanical Engineer (Buildings)

Basic Function:
• Designs and reviews the technical coordination of mechanical systems (such as HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems) to be implemented in the project. Monitors and reviews that all the mechanical design is necessary to achieve a mechanical system that meets acceptable engineering standards.
Worked Performed:
• Reviews all the submissions from the consultant and PMC related to the DIRD buildings mechanical systems and issue a review reports. Review weekly and monthly reports from the consultants and PMC related to the mechanical systems and comments in order to get comprehensive reports.
• Identifies mechanical design criteria, prepares preliminary calculations and establishes base load requirements for HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems. Checks the suitable materials and systems to the project requirements. Checks applicable codes, regulations and restrictions, insurance requirements and other factors affecting the design of the project.
• Prepares a preliminary cost estimate or cooperate appropriately with others responsible for reporting the estimate. Ensures and advices Estidama implementation in the design and Engineering process regarding civil work and forecasting the construction stage.
• Participates all schedule review meeting, progress meeting, coordination meeting and constructability review meeting. Determines the allocation of suitable space for mechanical rooms and other major mechanical installations.
• Determines equipment weights, size, noise, vibration, seismic requirements and other physical characteristics in the building mechanical design. Establishes the comparative information used in selection of mechanical systems for the project.
• Reviews the effect of mechanical construction budget for the project. Supports the project team during implementation stages such as: Performs site visits and preparation of Technical Scope of Work and discipline man-hour estimation for budgeting. Acts as the focal point for Technical Evaluation of Consultants / Contractors bids and man-hours estimates.
• Reviews and resolves Consultant's / Contractors Technical Queries, clarifications, Deviation and Variation requests. Reviews bidder's lists, bid document for contract and purchase for all mechanical systems.
• Reviews Technical Bid Evaluation report and approves selection of equipment and systems. Conducts prequalification exercises for Manufacturers, Consultants and Service Providers.
• Prepares weekly and monthly reports regarding the follow up with the consultants and PMC. Site visits when requested to review and check the related with mechanical systems.
• Works in line with HSE policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering Discipline or equivalent.
• 5 - 6 years of experience in Civil / Buildings Industry. Gulf Experience is preferable. Have Hands - on experience in design and detailed Engineering of Buildings Mechanical Systems. Must be familiar with design codes ASME, ASTM, API, NFPA, BS, ISO etc. Knowledge in PDMS, Auto CAD, MS Word and Excel. Must have experience with International EPC Contractors Specifications.
• Adequate Knowledge in material selection and specification. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and maintain good relations with all levels of management and employees.
• Proficient in English.
