Department Description:

The department of chemical engineering at the Company in Abu Dhabi seeks an exceptional candidate for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the areas of corrosion engineering. The position is available starting August 15, 2014. An earlier starting date can be negotiated.
The Company was created in 2001 with the goal of establishing itself as a world-class institution in engineering education and research in areas of significance to the oil and gas and the broader energy industries. The Company’s sponsors and affiliates and four major international oil companiesThe campus has modern instructional laboratories and classroom facilities and is planning a major research center on its campus in Sas Al Nakhl, Abu Dhabi. 

Brief Posting Description:

Currently the Company offers Bachelor degrees in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Petroleum Engineering and Petroleum Geosciences; Master of Engineering degrees in Chemical, Electrical, HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental), Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering and Master of Science degrees in Applied Chemistry, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering and Petroleum Geosciences. All programs are open to both male and female students.

Detailed Description:

Research in the department of chemical engineering is supported by state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment. Our laboratories include the Catalysis, Reaction Engineering and Process Intensification laboratory, the Flow Assurance and Production Chemistry laboratory, the Polymer laboratory (polymer chemistry, polymer characterization and testing as well as polymer processing), and the Environmental Chemistry laboratory. There are also dedicated facilities and software for computational work. 
The chemical engineering faculty members play a major role in interdisciplinary research and collaborate actively in joint research projects through the Company standing agreements with partner universities (e.g. University of Minnesota, University of Maryland, Colorado School of Mines, Rice University, University of Texas - Austin, China University of Petroleum - Beijing, and Johannes Kepler University at Linz - Austria).

Position Description:

Successful candidates will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, develop and sustain a research program in their area of expertise, write scholarly publications, advise graduate and undergraduate students, and work collegially in support of the continuing growth of the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Company.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or in a closely related field. It is preferred that the candidate has an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. Previous teaching at the university level and industrial experience in process engineering would be decided advantages.

Strong commitment to excellence in teaching chemical engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Research interests and research program development experience in corrosion engineering and catalysis.
Demonstrated ability or potential to initiate and direct funded scholarly work of high caliber
Record of professional service, and institutional and professional committee work
