Operations Petrophysical Advisor

Basic Function:
• As a Operations Petrophysical Advisor with the Company project work in a multi-disciplinary asset evaluation team to plan, execute and review logging operations, QC interpretation work by and invoices from contractors, and performs petrophysical interpretation of individual wells as part of Company appraisal program and subsequent development. In addition the function assists in reservoir modelling and field development planning work.

Contracting
• Assist in the definition and creation of Scope of Work documentation for Wireline and LWD logging services.
Operations Petrophysics
• Contribute to well proposal documents by assisting in the definition of well evaluation objectives and the petrophysical logging (tool strings, operational, etc) and possibly coring requirements necessary to deliver on those objectives in a cost effective manner
• Work closely with drilling and service providers to ensure that adequate data acquisition planning and preparation are in place prior to drilling the well with particular attention to specialist services like MDT, NMR etc.
• Provide subsurface support to drilling and well services operations.
• Communicate effectively on progress of operations to allow the right operational decisions to be taken
• Ensure effective quality control during data acquisition, and any service company post acquisition processing.
• Provide support for geosteering of horizontal wells in line with well objectives.
• Provide formation evaluation / petrophysical analysis and during drilling and as part of a final well (petrophysical) report post drilling.
• Capture work done in comprehensive post-job report.
• Ensure that all Petrophysical data and reports are properly captured in company archives and databases.
Minimum Requirements:
• B.Sc. in Geology, Physics, Petroleum Engineering or equivalent technical subject
• 5 to 10 years petrophysics operational experience in the oil/gas industry
• Extensive experience in planning and executing logging programmes
• Experience with evaluating tight carbonate reservoir environments and exposure to sour gas and or oil developments
• Skilled in data QA/QC
• Sound grasp of the latest petrophysical technologies
• Understanding of value of information concept
• Strong team player and effective communicator
• Very good written and spoken English.
• Good technical report writing skills
• Previous experience with Techlog petrophysical evaluation package is preferred.
• Familiar with Petrel
• Knowledge of HSE risks and how to control these, e.g. in relation to well operations.
