Senior Safety and Environment Engineer (HSE) (Academic)

Basic Function:
The Senior Safety and Environment Engineer is responsible to ensure that the appropriate safety policies and procedures are being followed by Company personnel and subcontractors, and ensure the compliance with environmental guidelines and best practices.
Worked Performed:
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a HSE management system that is in compliance with ADNOC Group of Companies Code of Practice.
• Assist in assessing the HSE and sustainability impact of new system projects and major modifications/upgrades on existing facilities at Company; advise on practical means to minimize or reduce their negative safety and environmental impacts.
• Assist in the implementation of fire protection programs and procedures to ensure employee, client and facility safety in accordance with all governmental and international fire and life safety codes.
• Assist in comprehensive audit and inspection programs to ensure compliance with Company’s safety and environment policies, procedures and best practices.
• Inspect facilities and labs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, in coordination with the Facilities Management Services Department.
• Investigate industrial accidents and injuries and develop plans to prevent them.
• Advise on practical means to minimize or reduce Company’s environmental impact.
• Ensure that HSE practices, policies and programs are implemented and aligned with best practices.
• Ensure the compliance of subcontractors to Company’s safety and environment policies, guidelines and procedures.
• Ensure that the proper safety and environment procedures are being followed in Company’s labs.
• Coordinate with lab engineers to develop safety and risk mitigation plans.
• Coordinate waste disposal activities and procedures, and ensure that they are being performed in a safe and environmental friendly way.
• Develop and implement company’s emergency guidelines and procedures in the work place.
• Assist in the development of Company’s sustainability report.
• Respond to HSE related technical clarifications sought by different Departments.
• Remain up to date with HSE developments in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry.
• Assist in the development of HSE training courses when required.
• Actively follow and promote all Company policies and procedures.
• Perform other tasks and duties that may be from time to time required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the University.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or any other related field.
• A certification in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution is preferable (e.g. CSP, CIH, etc.).
• Normally six years of relevant work experience.
• Computer proficiency/skills.
• Fluent in English; Arabic is preferred.
