Associate Professor (Petroleum Engineering) (Academic)

Basic Function:
• The Associate Professor will collaborate with faculty members to create a vibrant university community that will positively impact and contribute to the development of the company as well as the wider region by tapping into collective intellect. They will work collaboratively with staff and faculty members to help students develop the required knowledge, skills and attitudes for success in their studies and beyond. The Associate Professor contributes to the design and development of graduate and undergraduate courses in line with the Company’s academic standards. This position is expected to contribute to the Company by developing teaching and research in line with the university’s strategy in the respective department.
Worked Performed:
• Support Company students to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for success.
• Proficiently deliver high quality teaching through a variety of instructional strategies and technologies in order to foster active student learning at the undergraduate level and when applicable at the graduate level.
• Contribute to the development of graduate and undergraduate courses.
• Provide and enhance academic advising and mentoring to students.
• Serve in a leading role in the relevant program’s continuous improvement process
• Actively engage in research and scholarly activity and contribute to the Company research profile.
• Publish research through the preparation and submission of journal and conference papers and participation in academic conferences.
• Mentor and/or supervise junior faculty and research associates.
• Seek national and international professional recognition
• Chair graduate students thesis and/or capstone design committees
• Assume leadership roles on academic and administrative committees
• Perform other institutional tasks and duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:
• Earned PhD degree from an accredited university in a relevant discipline.
• Significant experience as an Assistant Professor.
• Documented record of excellence with regards to teaching, research, and scholarly activities
• Demonstrated record of securing research funding.
• Experience in curriculum development.
• Demonstrated potential for national and international professional recognition
• Demonstrated potential to mentor and/or supervise junior faculty and research associates.
Competencies:
• Ability to produce high quality and original research, publish the results in scholarly journals, and present it at national/international conferences in a particular area(s) of specialization.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to demonstrate knowledge in a logical manner, skilled at presenting thoughts, ideas, and specifications orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with diverse groups, cultures, and communities.
• Ability to provide ongoing constructive feedback and learning opportunities, through formal or informal methods, in order to develop the ability of others to perform effectively and contribute to the organization.
• Ability to assume authority, responsibility, and accountability.
• Fluent in English, Arabic is desirable.
