Well Support Manager

Basic Function:
• Accountable for Technical and specialist Operational Support to the Drilling Division, including materials, completions, well bore surveying and bit supplies.
• Ensure material requirements are correctly forecast and contracted to meet the DWS.
• Accountable for Mud, Cement and waste management activities for Drilling Division.
• Plans, supervises and optimizes the technical evaluation of the standard and non standard equipment and follows up the completion of the Division’s role in the procurement process of drilling, workover and completion equipment/materials.
Worked Performed:
• Critically reviews and evaluates equipment proposals received from vendors, and recommends testing/trials for hire/purchase of drilling equipment and services.
• Explores industry/market for drilling equipment to identify economic, safe and efficient equipment for possible use in Company drilling operations.
• Evaluates the capabilities/competence of suppliers and contractors involved in the provision of services to the Technical Department. Directs the Department participation in all activities related to procurement of drilling equipment and services.
• Monitors the changes in the drilling/workover schedule and determines necessary action for the provision of equipment and updating materials forecast. Includes reviewing rig schedule on monthly basis and recommends new schedules in light of materials/equipment availability.
• Follows up and coordinates the studies related to recurring drilling (as assigned) and completion problems to ensure reaching to solutions from the industry resources and dissipates the information to drilling staff. Supervises and directs the evaluation of new trials and analysis of failure and provides appropriate recommendations. Includes contacting industry sources, shareholders research centers, etc.
• Coordination with other divisions on well quality and problematic wells (Fields), business plan, rig schedule and well engineering forum (PDD), as well as other multidisciplinary events, workshops and forums. Represent DD in such events and prepares feedback and impart acquired knowledge and information to concerned parties within the Division.
• Participates and leads the development, review and maintenance of divisional policies, procedures and standards and prepares appropriate recommendations for improvement. Develops area wide improvement plans and promote their acceptance and implementations. Monitors and reports on performance enhancement programs and render necessary advice as required.
• Directs and participates in the preparation and delivery of comprehensive training and development function for the Division staff with particular emphasis on UAE nations in coordination with Head of Departments and closely monitors implementation of related programs. Ensures timely follow up is made with appropriate parties so that necessary arrangements are completed for conducting the required training and development program.
• Develops the Divisions performance indicators and associated scorecards. Monitors the overall divisional performance and directs the preparation of related reports and analyses.
• Keeps abreast of related development within the drilling industry. Includes attending conferences, seminars, professional society meetings to identify new development of interest to the Company. Prepares reports/papers on such functions and circulates to colleagues and subordinates.
• Plans and participates in the ongoing training and development of assigned UAE national employees. Includes assessing employees training and development needs, monitoring and reporting on progress and counseling employees as required.
• Carries out other similar or related duties.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelors in Engineering in Mechanical, Petroleum or any other equivalent discipline.
• Minimum of 15-20 years experience in Drilling Operations and Planning & Workover Operations and at least 5 years in a supervisory position.
