Basic Function:
• Prepares overall schedule program for well testing, well stimulation, well intervention and related Petroleum Engineering Operations.
• Monitors the performance and progress in implementation and recommends corrective measures to resolve operational difficulties.
• Conducts short-term studies to improve the efficiency of production/injection operations.
Worked Performed:
• Works with Drilling Division to develop the acid stimulation tendering scope of work and evaluates the technical submission from the bidders. Designs, tests the acid recipes for each reservoir with the service company and conducts 3rd party testing for verifications.
• Develops and follows up with additional testing, such as Core Flood Tests, needed to optimize acid recipes and ensures no unnecessary additives are used.
• Completes WVA deliverables related to Well Testing and verifies coiled tubing accessibility simulation run. Plans the monthly barge requirements reflecting PE jobs.
• Designs programs for acid stimulation, well intervention, post rig operations, artificial lift trouble-shooting, flow assurance & corrosion and any related Production Technology activities.
• Liaises with New Fields Operations team and other divisions to conduct surveillance for monitoring the well performance. Assess production performance and any flow assurance and corrosion issues and proposes any remedial solutions.
• Supervises the onsite Production Technology activities (Stimulation, Well Testing, Well Intervention, trouble- shooting) to ensure the operations are executed & delivered as per well integrity standards.
• Works with Petroleum Engineer (Completion Practices and Logging) addressing specific operational problems and submits appropriate recommendations for cost-effective solutions. Introduces new methods to maximize wells availability for production/injection and monitoring. Provides assistance to peers in case of challenges / shortage of staff.
• Optimizes lifting performance to detect vertical lift bottle-necking by running different simulation models such as prosper.
• Creates database for wells/jobs to allow excellent management of data for engineer use.
• Supervises and controls problematic wells and overseeing their plan to be cleared out of inventory. Studies and proposes innovative engineering solutions to address short & long term reactivation solutions for inactive strings.
• Writes up / presentations and reports on inactive wells for Drilling & Well Integrity Sub-Committee (DWISC) and Technical Committee Meeting (TCM) on bi-annual basis.
• Delivers the assigned milestones & KPI of the division. Conducts studies and contributes in the conceptual design of the possible short and medium term solutions for the new projects and/or modifications of the existing production/injection facilities to upgrade performance and efficiency. Example - Stimulation, Fracturing, Horizontal Drilling & the use of Artificial lift methods.
• Participates in writing technical papers for Company and effectively reflecting them in SPE workshops and events.
• Provides knowledge transfer & training assistance to colleagues, assistants and newly appointed engineers, Mentor, University Students through various means.
• Coaches and monitors the young UAE engineers and performs evaluation of their professional career development to achieve a high standard of professionalism and the capability to work independently.
• Provides assistance to peers in case of challenges /shortage of staff. Designs programs that are safe and in line with the Company policy. Assess risks associated with job planning and programming.
• Guides, directs and supervises subordinates to ensure they work to their best potential and contribute effectively as a Team.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering discipline or equivalent.
• 5 – 6 years relevant experience of all aspects of Petroleum Engineering Operations.
• Proficient in English and strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
