Basic Function:

The Geo-information Analyst will provide GIS and CAD support to BGD customers.
The Analysts role is typically focused on at least two of:
- Web Mapping
- GIS
- Cartography
- CAD Support
Services will be provided in line with the BGD Geo-Information Strategy.
Whilst the formal reporting line is to the Geomatics Manager, day to day coordination of Analyst is delegated to the Senior Geo-information Consultant.

Worked Performed:

Provision of "front -desk" services to BGD customers
Production of accurate cartography and mapping using ESRI ArcGIS
Support and development of Web Map solutions using ESRI ArcGIS Server
Technical and programming support to the Geo-information Management team
Support use of standard data models particularly APDM (ArcGIS Pipeline Data Model), within the BGD ArcGIS environment
Processing, manipulation and conversion of CAD data relating to as-built surveys of pipelines and facilities
Participation in team meetings
Schedule own work to meet multi-customer needs
Promote use of Geo-Information and spatial analysis techniques within project teams.
Resolve labour intensive working practices and implement technology-based solutions
Informal guidance to peers
Understand and promote all relevant Geomatics Services to Project Teams

Safety Responsibility:

Good understanding of BGD and UAE safety legislation, particularly as relevant to preparation of mapping or geo-information used in support of operations.
Awareness of legal and operational aspects of mapping / survey data acquisition and supply particularly in relation to land based logistics or oil spill response / emergency operations

Minimum Requirements:

Degree (or equivalent qualification) in GIS / Digital Cartography / Geomatics / Geography or a similar / related subject. 
A related subject would be acceptable if it included adequate foundation in Geodesy
At least 7 years of relevant industry experience
Professional GIS experience with solid knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, and some related spatial tools such as FME and Oracle.
Experience with ArcGIS Server using the JavaScript and Flex API's.
Knowledge of web hosting and development skills such as HTML, XML, JavaScript and Flex.
Highly computer literate, with experience of scripting and programming languages including Python and Lisp (AutoLISP).
Knowledge of Exploration & Production business processes
Excellent cartography skills
At least 2 years of professional CAD experience with AutoCAD and Microstation

Must be able and prepared to work as part of the Geomatics team, and to support the team and colleagues.
Flexibility to change between Geo-Information management, ad-hoc project work and being embedded in a project team.
Good understanding of spoken and written English
Proactive and positive approach
Flexibility and willingness to work overtime, by arrangement. Ability to understand customer requirements and issues and then to link Geo-Information services to address these.
Communication, including listening, querying and ability to influence is key to successful service provision.
