Operations Engineer

Basic Function:
• Liaises with field/terminal operations divisions to provides technical support on matters related to operational strategies, chronic problems, medium and long term plans, maintenance and inter-field operating procedures, as applicable to his engineering discipline.
• Participates in technical/economical studies to provide viable solutions/options in support of decision making process at the Operations Functional management level. Identifies technical solutions and/or new technologies that are necessary to improve operating efficiency and/or enable future development projects.
Worked Performed:
• Participates in the development of strategies in support of the Operations business plans, master field plans and field facilities plans. Includes collecting and analyzing data for technical and/or economical studies, drafting recommendations for viable alternatives, etc.
• Prepares technical background and summaries related to specific operational issues, as assigned. Issues may include highlighting problems in a particular equipment/system, investigating water injection failure rate, etc.
• Participates in technical and economical studies on major spending areas/items related to facilities operations, maintenance or development. This may include reviewing spare parts for major equipment, conducting techno economic study on overhead line maintenance, etc.
• Contributes to the definition of projects TOR and conceptual designs, to ensure that the operational experience and maintenance policies are captured in the design of major field development work.
• Identifies and participates in the development of new technologies/solutions to improve operations practices. This includes evaluating the new technologies, selecting and recommending viable and appropriate solutions for implementation.
• Participates in the commissioning and implementation of field trials. Includes monitoring testing activities, evaluating performance and operational results, drafting evaluation report and recommendations.
• Updates technical information, guidelines and operating manuals covering various aspects of production operations. Includes updating technical manuals of various equipment using manufacturers’ recommendations and operations’ feed back.
• Assesses present procedures and recommends changes to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
• Keeps abreast of technological development in the field of operation engineering. Attends conferences, seminars and reviews technical periodicals.
• Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Participates in the training and development of assigned UAE national employees. Includes monitoring and reporting on progress and counseling employees, as required.
• Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility, and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain.

• Sound analysis of data including analyses of operational test results.
• Viability of identified alternatives and acceptability of recommendations.
• Presentation of agreed options for review and approval by senior management.
• Feedback from colleague in assigned study group or a CAT team.
• Approach followed in highlighting the problem and role played in implementation of the study results and recommendations

• Sound operations input and representing throughout the project life cycle. Inception to commissioning and start up.

• Ability to research and evaluate specialized solutions/technology of multi disciplinary nature.
• Good understanding of related systems, processes and operations.
• Ability to advise field/terminal personnel on the wider application of the technology throughout the Fields, once the technology/solution is approved.
• Promotion and maintenance of consistency in operating and maintenance procedures and guidelines,
• Adoption and promotion of best operational practices throughout all field areas.
• Up to date with the state of the art in operations technologies.
• Embrace new technology and find practical applications for it.

Minimum Requirements:
• B.Sc. in Mechanical, Petroleum or Production Engineering.
• 6-8 years’ experience in oil and gas industry.
