Senior Drilling Engineer (Onshore)

Basic Function:
• Leading role in contracting and procurement activities for drilling support services.
• Progress development well planning and operational process and procedures.
• Lead the development and implementation of the drilling risk assessment for Shah D&C activities.
Worked Performed:
• Provide technical drilling planning and implementation of drilling engineering activities ensuring that wells are designed and drilled in a safe, cost effective, and an environmentally responsible manner.
• Serve as a core member of the wells planning team to design and implement optimum development drilling procedures and contingency plans.
• Prepare detailed drilling procedures and contingency plans for operations.
• Prepare AFE cost estimates and regulatory permit request.
• Assess and implement available technologies and services to improve drilling performance and capital efficiency.
• Develop and track completion metrics to drive high-quality and cost effective completions.
• Pre-qualify contractors and services providers for tendering of drilling support services.
• Prepare technical scopes of work for all drilling support services tenders including QA/QC processes for materials.
• Participate in the technical and commercial bid evaluations for drilling services.
• Generate materials specifications and procurement scheduling for drilling operations.
• Provide planning and budget cost estimates for the development drilling program as required.
• Provide daily support to drilling operations to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality results.
• Provide on-site consultation to the drilling supervisors as required.
• Conduct after-action-reviews to access overall performance of services contractors and evaluate drilling procedures being implemented.
• Support and adhere to the project timeline including coordinating peer reviews and post audits.
• Ensure that all corporate and joint venture policies and practices are maintained and adhere to.
• Ensure that all in-country safety, regulatory and environmental guidelines are followed.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in the field of engineering.
• A minimum 10 years of industry experience.
• A minimum 7 years of direct experience in drilling engineering and operations. Horizontal and/or multi-lateral drilling experience would be an asset.
• Core competency in drilling engineering and drilling operations.
• Experience with horizontal and/or multi-lateral well technology.
• Developed skills in directional well planning, casing design and cementing designs for sour environments.
• Familiar with completion design and execution.
• Thorough understanding of all financial aspects of drilling operations including budgeting, preparation of AFE's, cost forecasting and estimation of service company contract values.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a project team and help contribute to an environment that fosters innovation, risk taking, continuous improvement and continuous learning.
• Excellent judgement and decision making ability regarding technical matters.
• Proficiency with landmark drilling and planning tools (well plan, compass and stress check).
• Experience of large projects.
• Exposure to and experience of working with H2S gas.
• Well control certificate (IWCF).
