Reservoir Geologist
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Basic Function:
• Performs and reviews geological studies. Evaluates hydrocarbon prospects and undeveloped discoveries in terms of potential reserves within the Company’s concessional areas. Prepares recommendations for supervisor’s approval, for further exploration, delineation and appraisal work.
(Activities cover all exploration, appraisal and delineation wells in the Company’s concession areas).
Work Performed:
• Analyses current and new data obtained from wells drilled and seismic surveys as well as external review geological studies (field & regional) to enhance understanding of geological structures with known hydrocarbon reserves. This includes updating, on regular basis, all structural and stratigraphic data of the Company’s concessions. Studies new data to determine the existence of any new prospects.
• Prepares regional structural, isopach, and facies maps and correlation cross section.
• Appraises, on supervisor’s instructions, the Company’s existing oil and gas prospects and provides information on structural, isopach, and facies regular basis for the formulation of exploration programmes.
• Prepares detailed well proposals for drilling of exploration/delineation wells at specific locations on existing prospects or on undeveloped structures. The proposals also provide the coring and testing programmes as well as detailed descriptions of the reservoirs to be tested.
• Carries out computation of the hydrocarbon-in-place in the undrilled and undeveloped structures.
• Performs other related duties such as: Adhoc studies to determine justifications for any deviations/anomalies in drilling results. Recommends the exchange of geological data with the other OPCO’s when required. Trains UAE National developees, carries out well-site duties as and when required..etc.
Minimum Requirements:
• B. Sc. in Geology or equivalent.
• 5 years experience in geological work in the oil industry, including years in fields operations experience.
• Good knowledge of English language.
