Production Systems Engineer
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Basic Function:
• Study and analyse all operational engineering applications and their process interfaces, pertaining to production planning, forecasting, accounting and shipping management to achieve full automation of all Business & Engineering processes in line with international standards and certifications.
Main Accountabilities:
Supervision
• Plan and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives
• Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives
Policies, Processes, Systems, Procedures, and Controls
• Implement approved Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Section's work programs in line with Company and International standards
• Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations
Budgets
• Provide input for preparation of the Department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives
• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control
Performance Management
• Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Section in line with the Company Performance framework
• Participate in the conduct of periodic and random audits of critical business calculations & data flows to identify gaps and areas of improvement and healthy system functioning
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function
• Participate with IT PRISM support on infrastructure changes to assess and rectify the adverse impact of changes such as software upgrades, interface system modifications such as shifting of Plant Process Information servers from all Plants, conversion from manual inputs to automated data capture and integration of Plants into PRISM, etc
• Identify software changes in Production Reporting and Shipping Information Management System (PRISM) to align with international standards and best practices related to Production Management applications pertaining to the Oil & Gas sector
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and Company Code of Practices
Reports
• Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management
• Verify the accuracy of data in PRISM applications to ensure the information reports meet the needs all end-users and shareholders
Specific Accountabilities:
Data Management
• Support all production data users (including HSE), in using PRISM for their business activities such as process improvements, process engineering, plant model development, control performance monitoring, etc. using the information reports of PRISM to improve data management and business productivity
• Monitor the end-to-end process of operational data flow including raw data capture, manual inputs, mass balance, data reconciliation, validation of product yield calculations, measurement of performance against well defined accountabilities, KPI applications to ensure the flow of valid data to end users
• Collect, collate and report any information needed to support various purposes e.g. change management, data clarifications, analysis, correction of data inputs, mass balance applications
• Update user access requirements to support security management of data
• Coordinate with IT PRISM Support on the maintenance of all the sub-applications to support data management
• Assist in the maintenance of real time databases for various applications used in the Plants e.g. PI & RIMS, CPIMS and LIMS Servers, and implement changes to meet operational requirements
• Maintain adequate application documentation for records, quick reference and easy troubleshooting
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent specializing in Hydrocarbon Processing / Process Modelling. Degree in Process Control & Automation is preferable.
• With emphasis in process control with not less than 9 yrs of DCS/process integrations.
• 6 or above years of cumulative experience in Operations, Process Control & Real Time systems preferably within Oil & Gas industry out of which at least 3 years in a Production System Engineer role
• Sound knowledge and experience in Plant Operation, custody transfer measurements, DCS Graphics, Trends and reporting in computerized environment with exposure to real time data capture & automation
• Sound knowledge and skills in Automation of business and engineering processes
• Good knowledge and skills in Data management
• Planning and Organising, Scheduling and Co-ordinating, Validating, Examining and Recording
• Working with Technology and automated Computer Applications (PRISM, PI & RIMS, CPIMS and LIMS servers)
