Senior Fluids Engineer

Basic Function:

Manages all operations related to Drilling Fluids operations of Company.
Ensure full implementation of Company goals and objectives. Set Fluids team objectives through Performance Contracts and their implementation. 
Ensure quality monitoring of mud systems, stock inventory and consumption. Approve mud programs, monitor mud reports, phase reports and recaps. 
Review and ensure performance of Drilling Fluids, Solids Control, Drilling Waste Management Services Companies through KPIs. 
Ensure their committed, goals and objectives are fulfilled. 

Worked Performed:

Ensures cost optimization of operations while maintaining a high level of quality, safety and preventing any pollution. Plan training of field personnel to meet Company desired standards. Ensure Company’s HSE objectives are met. Strategic planning of Company’s future drilling fluids related services.
Approves Fluids programs and procedures. Ensures their implementation by all team members. Optimizes management of Fluid Services in the field with assistance of Fluids Section Leaders and Fluids engineers. Ensures that best practices and procedures are followed. 
Ensures Company HSE procedures and standards are respected and followed by Company Engineers and Contractor personnel. Ensures compliance of quality of chemicals, equipment, lab and procedures with assistance of Fluids Section Leaders and Engineers and Company lab. Ensures achievement of Fluids’ team’s objectives. Provides technical support to fluids engineers as required. Ensures team maintains inventory management of chemicals at rig-site.
Reviews and analyses of any contractor equipment failures, non-conformance of services and fluid related rig NPTs and ensure implementation of corrective actions. Reviews and monitors contractor’s drilling fluid programs, reports, recaps, AARs. 
Management of field and base personnel and optimal utilization of human resources.  Lead trouble-shooting & analysis of drilling problems, lab pilot tests & simulations, recommend improvements and solutions.
Reviews and develops Company Drilling Fluid Procedures and Practices for inclusion in Drilling Operations Manuals (DORM). Reviews and updates Drilling Fluids Manual. Implements safe drilling practices with Non-Aqueous Fluids with full environment protection. 
Leads and guides Drilling Division personnel for safe and optimal drilling operations as per approved drilling and fluid programs. Provides technical support to Drilling personnel. Co-ordinates with Reservoir and Petroleum Engineers to improve well productivity. Participates in operational meetings, well planning, WVAs, workshops, DWISCs and TCMs. 
Makes Fluids presentations at Peer Reviews, DTLs and Work-shops. Supervises and guides steam’s presentations for Lessons Learned and Incident Reviews. Makes technical paper submissions and presentations at Industry conferences, including SPE. Performs periodical safety and operational audits on rigs, lead audits of fluid contractors and chemical suppliers’ yards / warehouses and labs. Ensure close-out of audit recommendations. 
Prepares tenders’ technical scope and specifications, evaluate tenders, design and monitor lab evaluations of chemicals. Manages drilling fluids, solids control, brine plant, LMP, Drilling Waste Management contracts.
Monitors and approves contractor invoices. Plans specific critical operations in co-ordination with Drilling personnel and Fluids engineers. Liaises with Drilling Contractors for rig improvements for old and new rig designs. 
Plans and promotes new technology trials for improved drilling performance. Review trial reports and presentations for continuous improvements. Makes strategic plans for Company’s future operations and field developments in new fields, artificial islands, deep gas wells, ERD-MRC wells, etc. Co-ordinates with other OPCOs on issues of common interests. Maintains networking with other oil Companies to share new technologies and best practices.  
Guides, directs and supervises subordinates to ensure they work to their best potential and contribute effectively as a team. Works in line with HSE Policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Chemical / Petroleum Engineering discipline or equivalent. 
10 - 12 years of experience covering all aspects of Drilling Fluids engineering, including minimum 5 years in a supervisory position. The position must be able to lead his team proactively. Be a team player and team leader. Be able to achieve Company objectives through good coordination between all parties involved.
Proficient in English.
